There is an acne treatment regardless of your type of skin. Before you can effectively deal with your acne, you need to know your type of skin. The type of treatment you need for your acne depends on your skin type.
What Is Your Skin Type?
Your skin will fall within one of these types.
1. Oily skin. An overproduction of sebum will make your face appear oily. 2. Dry skin. An under-production of sebum will make your skin appear flaky and dry. 3. Combination skin. Your T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) is oily and the rest of your skin is dry. 4. Normal skin. Your skin produces the right amount of sebum making your skin neither too oily nor too dry. 5. Sensitive skin. If your skin easily gets irritated, you have sensitive skin.
Acne Treatment Depending on Your Skin Type
Choose a treatment approach depending on your skin type. If you have an oily skin, use a cleanser that is oil-free and exfoliate with a deep cleansing mask. With a dry skin, apply moisturizer after cleansing and exfoliate with an oil-based product. Combination skin needs a lighter moisturizer and a blotting paper to remove excess oil in your T-zone. Normal skin only needs a gentle cleanser and a light moisturizer. You need to be extra careful if you have a sensitive skin as your skin easily gets irritated.
Acne comes and goes when you are between 12 and 23 years old. In some cases, acne can be severe, though. Choosing the right acne treatment depending on your skin type will speed up the healing process.
